Every year thousands of Nepali make a pilgrimage to a holy lake situated at 14370 feet above sea level. The pilgrims who go there are not aware of the health risks such a journey entails. Many fall sick and some even die.
To address this we made a participatory film. We trained 12 novices in basic filmmaking and took them on the pilgrimage itself. They documented their journey by identifying health challenges and solutions which was condensed into a 12 minute film. This film was then shown to future pilgrims and was also used to provide information to pilgrims while on the trail to the lake. We used a film, community discussions and graphic prints to achieve this.
